What is the difference between love and lust?
Our bodies may sometimes fool us into thinking that we actually love someone when the truth is, we are only beginning to admire someone.
When we start falling “in love”, we begin to think that this is really love. Love holds a deeper meaning and this usually comes in mature relationships. Of course, there is the case of romantic love where physical attraction is at its peak. During this time, you and your partner may start experimenting and become more curious about sex. Sex hormones and chemicals in your brain make you feel this way. When this happens, you begin to feel sexual urges and become more obsessed with your love interest.
This is where lust comes in. You feel lust when you think of being sexually involved with another person. Lust is focused on what is physical and sexual, unlike love which comes with commitment and a deeper understanding of the other person. When lust dies down, then the test for real love comes in. If you love a person, there is no urgent need to be sexual with that person.
