Not all guys are the same. They all have their own ways of expressing how they feel. When a guy becomes serious about you, he may want to have a more mature relationship with you. When this happens, some guys may ask you to sit down with him so you can talk. For other guys, they would not like things to change too much from what you already share and yet they would still think they are being serious with you. Though there are no hard and fast rules in starting relationships, you would know the relationship is heading one level up when:
- You start getting exclusive. You stop going out with other guys and he shuns other girls too. You only go out with each other and seem to enjoy each other’s company.
- You call each other at the end of the day and ask how each other’s day went. This tender gesture tells you that your guy cares about your daily concerns, no matter how trivial. Your guy knows it makes you feel secure and when he does this more often, it may mean that he is taking the relationship seriously.
- You begin to listen to each other more. You may not always agree with each other but at least, you try to listen.
- You begin to remember special dates and celebrate these together. It may be celebrating the date you first met or just exchanging gifts during birthdays.
- You begin to respect each other’s plans and decisions. This is one step closer to becoming really serious. When one says “no”, the other realizes this and respects the other’s decision. Gone are the petty quarrels over where to eat and what movies to watch on Friday nights. When you become serious in your relationship, you try hard to make it work.
- Meet the parents. Your guy may start bringing you home to meet mom and dad. He may also start inviting you to join them during special occasions that are strictly for family and close friends only.
- Meet the gang. A guy is usually most comfortable when he is with friends. This is a good sign telling you that he is beginning to be very comfortable with you. This means he wants to share with you his more personal side. It is also a good way of observing whether you are truly compatible together.
